This charming and eclectic beach lodge will make you feel comfortable and completely at home. The guest house has been a boutique establishment since it opened 8 years ago and was completely renovated in October 2020. Nestled on the Garden Route area in South Africa, this beautiful guest house offers an intimate experience with authentic South African hospitality.

The guesthouse offers five spacious en-suite rooms, each with their own unique character and luxurious perks, ensuring that you will fully revel in your stay whether it be for leisure or business. We aim to add an inspiring and memorable chapter to your story, for guests to stay overnight or simply to enjoy a breakfast on the deck. All rooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with modern amenities for guests’ comfort. Each room is named after its own part of the story, giving them a personal touch. We also offer a variety of amenities for you to enjoy during your stay, including Wi-Fi, breakfast with freshly squeezed juices, daily housekeeping service, a veggie garden and free parking. It is perfect for couples, families, and business travellers of all sorts. Our pool out on the deck is a heated pool and maintains a perfect temperature throughout the year.
Each bedroom has an elegant en-suite bathroom with extra time taken to attend to the details. Each room is also equipped with a tea and coffee station, a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk, flatscreen smart TV, linen gowns, and all required travel necessities.
There is a spacious open plan kitchen and living area that can accommodate all guests for leisure, relaxation, cooking and games. The deck & pool is perfect for during the hot Summer days and during the Winter a cosy fireplace is available.

Plettenberg Bay offers a multitude of popular activities and experiences in and around the area. The Garden Route is a must to experience the beauty of the South African coastal gardens. The sandy Robberg beach and Lookout beach both offer surf breaks.
Activities around Plettenberg bay are endless and include restaurants, zip-line tours, whale and dolphin boat tours, game drives, nature walks, bird-and aquatic life watching, beaches. There are also many water sports such as snorkelling or diving that can be done in the area. Popular activities near the beach are games of golf on a course nearby which is considered to be among the best courses in South Africa. The area also has many hiking trails that are perfect for those who enjoy exploring more than just what is immediately visible from their accommodation. A must visit is the elephant sanctuary located at The Crags for an amazing up, close and personal experience with these gentle giants.

Meet Our Staff
Evans and Colnes are our trusted husband and wife staff team. They have been working at Long Story for over 4 years. They will greet you upon arrival at Long Story and assist with any luggage upon request. They will show you to your rooms and once you have settled in, they will prepare your breakfasts in the morning and do housekeeping.
If you need any laundry done, they will gladly assist. They are always willing to go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. They help with anything that comes up during their time here so don’t hesitate to ask them if there is something that needs to be done or if you are having trouble with any of the amenities at the guest house.

We did not really want to tell ” the rest of the world ” of this hidden gem. We’ve just rebooked for a good week in February 2019 the truth can now be exposed – this is definitely a place not to be missed if or when going to Plettenberg. The whole place radiates a rarely matched level of quality in everything, accommodation, ambiance, service, food & friendliness

The breakfasts are outstanding and served in a lovely area by the pool. The rooms are well equipped and with an extremely high standard of amenities. We stayed here for 3 days in 2017 and was so impressed with our whole experience that we stayed for 7 days in January this year. Needless to say everything was still 1st class.

WOW !!!!! What an absolute pleasure to spend a weekend in Plett at this exquisite facility !!! Beautifully appointed ,decor out of this world !!! We spent 3 glorious weeks here in December. The BnB has been newly renovated from top to toe. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the whole atmosphere was wonderful. We stayed in the Middle room, which was HUGE, quiet and extremely comfortable. The level of home comforts could be seen in every detail.

We are fully equipped for any circumstances and have put in place many protocols and backup systems to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. We try to be as sustainable as possible and have provided a water tank and a generator to be as accommodating as possible.
We also have a lovely herb and veggie garden available to all guest to pick fresh ingredients from for their next meal. Besides this, fresh and organic eggs are also available to all guests.
We have all necessary COVID-19 protocols in place to ensure your safety and a comfortable stay.
